If they didn’t want gamers to play split screen on the PC, they would just have it turned off. Unplugging is just a simple way to activate it. This is a built-in feature that relies on the secondary controller being on the ID # 2 joystick. This is not a “hack” that relies on an exploit based on unplugging a controller at the right time. I have stated many times that if anyone could show me a quote from Valve saying that popular hacking is something they are okay with, I would openly accept it and stop arguing that this solution of controller bypass “unplug / plug” might not be patched out of game.
